Dreaded Holiday Number One

+Ok so ideally most people wait till after December 31 to tweek their diet due to the indulgences they would miss out on during the Holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. I will meet hurdle one AGAIN come tomorrow. I faced it first on Sunday during Friendsgiving in which I justified all cheating to the fact it was Sunday. Epic Fail.

I have definitely learned the link between serotonin and my belly. When I am happy and excited and surrounded by good friends and my family and delicious food lingers near by, the action of eating it is simply complimentary to the visiting.
Here are some measures I have taken to support my journey during that wonderful Holiday known for its reputation of eating to the point of pain and then digesting and eating again.

Step 1)
Run the Turkey Trot - In Austin, this is considered a 5 mile run through the hilly downtown area.
Step 2) I planned and cooked enough meals to take with me and make it through Saturday morning.

Step 3)  I have discussed my strategy with my better half in presenting my case to my family for reasons I am not as self indulgent as I normally am due to the level of commitment I have into the results of this program. The hard thing about some of this is that not everyone will understand. They think they are loving you by telling you, you don't need to do all of this, but they are simply not grasping the heart of the matter. It is not my intentions to make anyone feel uncomfortable or bad due to my limited nutrition choices. I simply ask that they understand the value and importance it has to me, whether they truly understand or would do the same personally is not the issue.

Step 4) I have packed my weights and planned a workout to make up for the missed gym time I would normally have the luxury of on Friday.

On a side note...
I booked our flights!!!!! This IS happening. If I needed anymore reason to work my butt off, that should be it.

Some positives to report:
+ I burned over 800 calories this morning during my workout. It felt awesome

+ I am developing muscle lines I have not had before and have lost a couple of inches over all
+ I went to the movies and ate hummus and celery and a glass of red wine over my previous chips/salsa and beer choice. Still not perfect, but getting better. :)

Be EVEN better!
Happy Thanksgiving
- Whittney C.
